Sixty people swam ashore after a ferry sank north of Port-au-Prince, but hundreds more aboard the reportedly crowded craft may have perished. Twenty-five bodies from the Fierte Gonaiviene had been recovered, Haitian radio reports said, and the US Coast Guard was sending craft to the area to look for survivors.
